Kotor, April 20, 2025 – The Kotor-Lovcen cable car, one of the most spectacular tourist attractions in Montenegro, officially opened the new driving season on April 25, offering visitors a unique travel experience from the coast of the Bay of Kotor to the mountain peak of Kuk on Lovćen, at an altitude of 1,348 meters.

The cable car, almost 4 kilometers long, allows a journey lasting 11 minutes, during which there is a panoramic view of Kotor, Tivat, Perast and the surrounding settlements. The system has a capacity of 48 gondolas, each of which can accommodate up to 10 passengers, with a maximum capacity of 1,200 passengers per hour.

The departure station is located in Dub, only a few minutes away from the Adriatic highway, while the upper station is located near the entrance to the Lovcen National Park, which connects the coastal and mountainous parts of Montenegro in an extremely accessible way.

"The opening of the season comes at the right time, before the main summer wave of tourists. The interest is great, both among foreign visitors and among domestic guests who are increasingly looking for content that combines nature, culture and adventure," the cable car management announced.

More than just driving – an experience for the whole family

This season, the cable car brings not only a spectacular panoramic ride – but also a whole new dimension of staying on Lovćen. At the upper station, right next to the entrance to the National Park, a world of attractions awaits you that have been carefully designed to connect visitors with nature, history and adventure. There is the VISA Alpine Coaster, the first adrenaline trail of its kind in Montenegro. You choose your own speed as you descend the mountain serpentines - easy to enjoy or fast for those looking for excitement. Then, Medieval Adventures, an educational space that brings medieval stories of Montenegro to life through workshops, costumes and interaction. Children and adults can learn here how the shield was forged, what the knights looked like, and what kind of legends lived on these heights. If you prefer silence, Superstories is your place. Interactive audio and VR points on the trail tell the stories of Lovćen: about Petar II Petrović Njegoš, about folk heroes, about the spirit of the mountain.

In the naturally shaped amphitheater, located right next to the track, a new cultural core with more than 1,000 seats was built. During the summer season, concerts, theater performances, projections under the stars are planned – a combination of natural acoustics and a cultural program that will be remembered.

For the youngest, there is a Kindergarten zone, an educational playground with facilities inspired by the nature of Lovćen. While the kids explore, parents can enjoy a coffee with a view, a hike, or a picnic.

The cable car ride is available every day until the end of October. Tickets can be purchased online or on the spot, at a price of:

• 23 € for adults (return),
• 12 € for children from 2 to 12 years old,
• €13 one-way ticket for adults, €7 for children,
• Children under 2 years old ride for free.
• Special offers are valid for families, groups, pensioners and school excursions.

In June, the Kotor-Lovcen cable car runs every day from 09:00 to 21:00 (Tuesdays from 10:30), while the Alpine Coaster and children's playground are open from 10:00 to 20:00.
