Đalovići – a gondola to the underground treasure of Montenegro
As part of the efforts for Montenegro to develop sustainable and specialized tourism, the Đalovići gondola project is being implemented - a unique transport system that connects the Podvrh Monastery with the entrance to the Đalovićka Cave, one of the longest and most beautiful caves in Europe.
It is a fixed gondola of the GFR 2-1-8 type, with cabins that have eight seats each, with a capacity of 75 passengers per hour. The gondola's route is 1,532 meters long and includes eight supporting pillars. The maximum travel speed is 5 m/s, which allows a ride of approximately 5.6 minutes.
The lower station is located in the immediate vicinity of the Podvrh monastery, while the exit station of 380 m² is located on the plateau in front of the cave. It includes an exit terminal, a control booth, and a plateau for receiving and distributing visitors.
The works also include the first phase of arranging the entrance to the cave with accompanying facilities, which significantly improves the accessibility of this natural phenomenon.
The completion of the works is planned for 2025, and the project envisages that the Djalovic Cave will become a key destination for speleotourism in the region. The Đalovići gondola symbolizes the combination of modern technology and natural wealth, contributes to the extension of the tourist season and enriches the cultural and tourist offer of Montenegro.
