Platak: Four-seater cable car to improve winter tourism in Croatia
The Platak Ski Resort, one of the most important winter destinations in Croatia, received a significant infrastructural upgrade in 2023 – a new four-seater fixed cable car that enables faster and more efficient transport of skiers and visitors.
The project was implemented as part of a broader strategy for the development of sports and recreational tourism, with the support of regional authorities and the technical expertise of the company Strucon d.o.o., which has been operating under the name since the beginning of 2025 XElement d.o.o., members XE A group of blacks. The new cable car has increased the capacity of the existing two-seater – from the old system that transported 1,200 skiers per hour, the new four-seater now allows a capacity of 2,400 skiers per hour.
The cable car stretches over a length of 567.2 meters, with a vertical ascent of 245.04 meters, which makes it suitable for all categories of users – from beginners to experienced skiers. The modern system provides a safer and more comfortable ride, and the shortened waiting time at departure stations further enhances the visitor experience.
This investment is an important step towards strengthening the competitiveness of Platak in relation to other regional ski resorts, but also towards extending the tourist season, given the planned additional facilities that will enable the use of the cable car during the summer months.
The new four-seater cable car on Platak is another example of how technologically advanced solutions and public-private cooperation can contribute to the sustainable development of tourism infrastructure in the region
