The Lastva substation as an energy bridge between Italy and Montenegro

The "Lastva" substation represents a significant part of one of the most important and ambitious energy projects in the region – the submarine cable that connects the power systems of Italy and Montenegro. This project, also known as the first HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) system between the European Union and the Western Balkans, enables stable and efficient bidirectional transmission of electricity over long distances.

With a total length of 455 kilometers – of which 433 kilometers are on the underwater route between the Italian city of Pescar and Cape Jaz on the Montenegrin coast – the project has put Montenegro on the energy map of Europe. In this chain, the "Lastva" substation (400/110/350kV) plays an important role as a conversion and regulation point for high voltage.
