Klicevo Substation for Electric Power Stability in Western Montenegro

The Kličevo substation is one of the important infrastructure projects in the power system of Montenegro, especially for the Nikšić region and the wider western part of the country. This modern energy point was built as a "turnkey" system, in the implementation of which the company XEnergy d.o.o. has taken a leading role as a consortium partner, from the design phase, through the execution of construction and electrical works, to the final commissioning.

As the main technical partner within the project, ABB Italy was in charge of the delivery and installation of modern electrical equipment, which ensured maximum efficiency, safety and technological timeliness of the substation.

The "Kličevo" substation serves as the main distribution point for the energy ring that connects the Krnovo and Brezna substations, and enables the stable transmission of electricity from renewable sources – especially the Krnovo wind farm – to the wider network.

With the implementation of this facility, Montenegro has further strengthened its distribution and transmission network, which has increased the resilience of the system to loads, losses and possible outages in electricity distribution.

The Kličevo substation project shows how strategic partnerships and technical expertise can result in infrastructure solutions of utmost importance for the country's energy security.
